Nashville and the surrounding area boast an art scene that grows continually. Our artists are diverse, innovative, and committed to creating works for the community to enjoy and interact with. Throughout the year, Middle Tennessee’s art galleries are open, with new works and exhibits shown often.

Additionally, our region hosts various festivals and art crawls, all of which are vibrant celebrations of the talented artists who make their homes here. In fact, with so much art to choose from, you may have trouble deciding which art crawls and exhibits in Middle TN are best! If so, today’s Top Ten list is for you.

100 Taylor Arts Market
100 Taylor St | Nashville

1oo Taylor Arts Market is located in the Germantown neighborhood within a massive 65,000-square-foot historic mill. The Market is home to a permanent art gallery, coffee shop, brewery, and extensive studio spaces in which more than thirty-five artists work.

From 4 – 9 PM on the third Saturday of each month, at least sixty local artists are invited to install pop-up exhibitions. Gather to browse or buy, enjoy local food and craft cocktails, and dance to live music!

The remaining dates for 2022 are:

  • October 15th
  • November 19th
  • December 17th

Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit
4416 Ridgefield Way | Nashville

There has been much speculation about the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit’s secret new location, and now we know: it’s the gorgeous Lighthouse ArtSpace. The soaring ceilings, vast walls, and architectural elements have all been draped in projected animations of Van Gogh’s work—more than 90,000,000 pixels’ worth!

Enter the inner landscape of Van Gogh’s brilliant mind as you wander through room after room of moving images that will demonstrate every detail and brush stroke as you’ve never seen them before.

Astounding in its scale, ambition, and innovation, the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit is an ideal experience for lovers of the artist, but is also an ideal entry point for anyone who wishes to become familiar with the beauty and pathos of his work.

Please be advised that this exhibit contains bright flashing lights which may adversely affect photosensitive visitors. The venue is otherwise fully accessible.

The Boro Art Crawl
Downtown Square | Murfreesboro

In 2015, a group of local artists wanted to see Murfreesboro further develop their burgeoning artistic scene. They launched The Boro Art Crawl, and now it’s one of Murfreesboro’s most highly anticipated community events!

If this is your first year attending The Boro Art Crawl, start with the map. From there, you can create your own art tour in any order you please! Check Arts and Entertainment for samples of local eats and live events and be sure to spend some time chatting with The Boro’s incredibly talented and hard-working artists.

Red Arrow Gallery
919 Gallatin Ave | Nashville

Each month, the renowned Red Arrow Gallery presents a new exhibition designed to showcase and promote emerging and newly-established artists. Rather than focus on spotlighting only Nashville and Tennessee artists, woman-owned Red Arrow seeks to bring outstanding and challenging museum-quality art from around the globe into this warm and welcoming community space.

Tinney Contemporary
237 Rep. John Lewis Way N | Nashville

Founded in 2006, Tinney Contemporary is a cozy, intimate gallery that can be toured in twenty to thirty minutes—but its modest size in no way detracts from the sheer elegance of the space, or from the gorgeous internationally-sourced works celebrated here. When you are seeking solace from the busy Nashville streets, enter Tinney Contemporary and experience the freshly rotated exhibits one may always count on within this stunning gallery.

WeHo Art Crawl
Wedgewood Houston | Nashville

On the first Saturday of each month, WeHo Art Crawl opens across over a dozen galleries nestled throughout the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhoods. While COVID-19 has prompted some businesses to change their routine with respect to the number of visitors who may enter at once, WeHo Art Crawl is happy to announce that fifteen locations will participate throughout the remainder of 2022!

Frist Art Museum
919 Broadway | Nashville

The fully nonprofit Frist Museum presents fine art from regional, local, and Tennessee artists in addition to major national and international art exhibitions. Located within what was once Nashville’s post office, the museum is curated throughout 40,000 square feet of gorgeous Art Deco exhibition space. Soaring ceilings atop massive sorting rooms were perfectly suited to the museum’s needs, and the staff now works to preserve and honor both this historic monument and the native peoples on whose ancestral land it is built.

Franklin Art Scene Crawl
420 Main St A | Franklin

On the first Friday of each month, the city of Franklin opens its historic buildings downtown to spotlight and celebrate the city’s own talented community of artists, craftspeople, chefs, and musicians! Since its founding in 2006, the Franklin Art Scene Crawl has been free to all visitors, and 2022 is no exception.

Start with the map, and choose any starting point. Carpool if possible and rely on the complimentary trolley system to make your way to each stop along the way.

Chauvet Arts
215 Rep. John Lewis Way N | Nashville

In addition to their work curating, leasing, and selling artwork, Chauvet Arts participates in the First Saturday Art Crawl! If you’re anywhere near downtown Nashville, we strongly recommend adding this outstanding gallery to your itinerary. Despite their world-class offerings, the staff here is invested in making the world of art accessible, inclusive, and encouraging to everyone who has fallen in love with fine art. Even if you do not walk away with a new painting for your home or office, you will certainly carry at least one piece in your mind’s eye—and it will linger for a long, long time.

Zeitgeist
516 Hagan St, Ste 100 | Nashville

Zeitgeist is a must-see part of the WeHo Art Crawl, but this gallery has been a cornerstone of Nashville’s art community since 1994. Dedicated to providing new artists with a space for growth and experimentation, Zeitgeist is as relevant today as it’s ever been. To experience the space in which collectors of bold southern art can find world-class art just as it first emerges, start here—but don’t sleep on the stunning international art shown alongside our local gems.
